I absolutely loved Michelle Paver's Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series so I'll probably read everything she ever writes. This new series is set during the Greek Bronze Age and follows the story of a boy called Hylas and his dolphin, Spirit. I started reading yesterday and I love it already! Michelle Paver has a way of drawing the reader into the story so it feels like we are actually there, living every second of the characters' lives. I probably have a review up of this next week.

When Steven Erikson wrote his sprawling epic fantasy series, The Malazan Book of the Fallen, he was writing about a world that he and his friend, Ian C. Esslemont had invented together. Now Ian C. Esslemont has started writing about that same world. I'm both intrigued and excited to be revisiting their world. I hope I love Ian's books as much as I did Steven's.

I've been a long time fan of Terry Pratchett and have many (but not all) of the Discworld novels on my shelves. I was surprised to learn that this isn't a Discworld novel but is set in Victorian London. I wonder if I'll like this as much as the Discworld.
Need I say more about this one? Anyone who's read any of my reviews knows how much I LOVE Steven Erikson's books. His Malazan series is one of the best I've ever read. Now he's adding some more books, detailing the backstory of the Tiste Andii. It goes without saying that I just have to read them. Bring it on.How about you? What books did you get for Christmas?

that was a lot of books! I didn't get any... except for journals to write in!
ReplyDeleteNot as many as I normally get. And it doesn't include Kindle books!
